The Langtang and Helambu region lies north of Kathmandu and is easily accessible by road from Kathmandu. Langtang is a narrow valley along Nepals border to Tibet with Langtang Lirung (7246 m) to the north, Gangchenpo (6388 m) and Naya Kangri (5846 m) to the south and Dorje Lakpa (6966 m) to the east. Helambu is south of Langtang and only 75 km north of Kathmandu. Helambu is popular as a short trek because of it's relative low altitude (below 3500 m) and easy access from Kathmandu. The Helambu trek can also be included in a Langtang trek via the holy lakes at Gosiakund (4300 m) and
across the Ganja La (5106 m).

Between the Langtang region and Manaslu we find Ganesh Himal with Ganesh Himal I (7406 m) and several other 7000 m peaks. This is one of the best, and most underrated, trekking regions in central Nepal in an area that see few trekkers.
